New Game: Suddenly, Thousands (October 2014’S #OneGameAMonth)

Finally, Bacon Game Jam is over, and I have a new October 2014’s #OneGameAMonth entry! Make way for Suddenly, Thousands!

Description:

Suddenly, Thousands is a mob controlling game that takes inspiration from Pikmin and The Swapper. As a lone individual, you can recruit characters with synchronized movements to help push blocks, trigger switches, and avoid perilous lasers. Help lead the mob to it’s sacred safe-house!

Registered for Bacon Game Jam October 2014

I forgot to mention that yes, I’ll be attending the Bacon Game Jam this weekend. Bacon Game Jam was originally created at Reddit to help game developers learn to develop and finish their project. The game I create for this game jam will cover the #OneGameAMonth for October.

Due to shoddy internet connection at my current location, I won’t be live-streaming my development progress. I will, however, attempt to create a time lapse of my progress. Assuming I don’t make the same mistake I did last Ludum Dare…

About those “Members only” posts…

Hey, guys! You may have noticed that a few posts in this blogs appears as private, requiring a login to view. This has been something I’ve been working on for a while, and I think it’s time to open the covers. Long story short, I’ve been working hard to create a controlled environment for playtesting. Every hidden posts are alpha builds of games I’m working on. They’re generated by Jenkins, a server that automatically creates a game build and uploads the generated webplayer to this site. So, good news, you’re not missing out on any news, and you’ll still see games from me in finalized form.

As of right now, I’m working with people I know to make sure this system is stable. In the near future, though, I’ll be opening a new tier on Patreon to allow others to have early access to my games as well. For those interested, stay tuned…

New Game: Not a Clone (September 2014’s #OneGameAMonth)

At long last, the September 2014’s #OneGameAMonth entry that I’ve been teasing for 2 weeks is finally complete! Introducing Not a Clone!

Story:

Upon receiving his new smartphone, poor Jimmy downloaded all of the top-selling games that now demands every second of his attention. Help Jimmy play through as many mobile games as possible before the battery runs out!

As you might have guessed, Not a Clone is a satire of the rampant clones in the mobile market.

It’s available on Itch.io and GameJolt right now, so check it out!

Patreon Campaign now open!

Hey, everyone. Omiya Games’ Patreon page is now open for feedback! If there’s anything I can polish or correct, let me know!

Note that I am, indeed, working on constructing a video. It’s going to take a bit, though, and I wanted to make sure the text and the images were alright, first. Now onto making games!

Going Full-Time Indie!

Hey, everyone. As of right now, I finally started working as a full-time independent game developer! Wohoo!

As for future plans, I have a few things I’m currently starting:

  1. I’m renewing my efforts on #OneGameAMonth! As such, I’ve actually created a new account.
  2. I’m working on a new Patreon campaign to fund my efforts. What is Patreon, you ask? Basically a Kickstarter for creators that make products very rapidly. It’s most commonly used by Youtubers, but for #OneGameAMonth, this seems like a natural fit.
  3. I’m also going to be working on one major game release. This, of course, will probably take more than an year to create, so you may not hear about it for a while.
  4. I’m slowly working on redesigning this website. As of right now, the Games page directly links to either Itch.io or GameJolt. Expect more changes in the near future.
  5. In response to creating a Patreon campaign, I’m working on opening a private forums for testing new games. More news about this in the near future.

Naturally, I’m excited about the whole endeavor. With more time on my hands, expect bigger, better games this year!
